Aldis Bukšs on tänase Eesti kirjandusmaastiku jaoks veel tundmatu nimi, kuid peagi ilmub tema kriminaalromaan „Velled” ka eesti keeles.

„Velled“ on esimene kriminaalromaan, mis ilmus ka latgali keeles. Miks pidasite oluliseks, et raamat oleks kakskeelne – nii läti kui ka latgali keeles??
Tõepoolest, „Velled“ on selles mõttes ainulaadne, et tegemist on Läti ajaloo esimese latgali keeles ilmunud krimiromaaniga. Siiani on see ainsaks ka jäänud. Latgali keel on läti keele murre. Nagu Norras, kus on kaks ametlikku kirjakeelt, on neid kaks ka Lätis: standardne läti kirjakeel ja latgali keel (ehk Latgale murre), mida räägitakse ennekõike Ida-Lätis Latgale piirkonnas.
Eestist paralleele otsides saame lätlaste latgali keelt võrrelda Võro murdega. Pole sugugi kokkusattumus, et raamatus on juttu Võrust ja ühe peatüki tegevus lausa toimub seal. Minu teada poetas mu romaani suurepärane tõlkija Hannes Korjus mõned killud „Võro kiilt“ ka raamatu eestikeelsesse tõlkesse.
